A U.S. federal court in Nevada has set March 24, 2026, for the extradition hearing of former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) CEO, Sedina Christine Tamakloe-Attionu. Court documents accessed by DUBAWA show that the court initially set the hearing for January 21 but deferred to March according to a court filing signed by both the U.S. Attorney’s Office and Tamakloe-Attionu’s newly retained lawyer. The hearing will take place in LV Courtroom 3A before Magistrate Judge Daniel J Albregts.

Arrest, detention, and court appearance
Ghana’s embassy in Washington, DC, stated in a January release that Sedina Christine Tamakloe-Attionu was arrested and detained by US Marshals on January 6, 2026; however, official court records show that her arrest warrant was executed on January 7. She made her initial court appearance that same day and was detained at the Nevada Southern Detention Centre located at 2190 East Mesquite Avenue, Pahrump, Nevada.
Various news outlets, including this Asaase Radio report, and other social media posts challenged the claim that Sedina Christine Tamakloe-Attionu had been detained in Nevada. However, DUBAWA’s checks confirmed that she had indeed been detained.
Sedina Christine Tamakloe-Attionu attended her first court appearance in person, not shackled, made a financial affidavit, and was appointed counsel from the Federal Public Defender’s Office. Prosecutors presented their complaint and requested that she be detained pending extradition proceedings. She did not contest the extradition charges and was remanded to custody by the court.

According to unsealed court documents from the government of Ghana, “As of the date SEDINA made the application to the Court for the release of her passport, she had indicated to the Court that she was travelling to the United States for medical attention, specifically, at a clinic in Indianapolis, Indiana. Information from multiple sources indicates that she has been located in the Commonwealth of Virginia.”
