The 40th-day memorial service for Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, fondly remembered as the “Star of Africa,” was held on October 20, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Complex in Accra.

The solemn yet uplifting ceremony brought together hundreds of mourners, including family members, followers of the Kristo Asafo Mission, dignitaries, and prominent figures such as former President John Agyekum Kufuor and former MP Sarah Adwoa Safo, as they paid tribute to the life and legacy of the late inventor, industrialist, and spiritual leader.

During the event, a video was captured showing Kumawood actor Akwasi Boadi, popularly known as Akrobeto, consoling the children of the late Apostle.

In the video, when Akrobeto arrived at the location where Kwadwo Safo Jnr was seated, he paused. The son of the late Apostle appeared to have looked away for a brief moment – a gesture some interpreted as a sign of tension brewing between them.

The 30-second video posted on X by @eddie_wrt with the caption,

“Moment the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s son, Kwadwo Safo Jnr, refused to shake hands with Kumawood actor Akrobeto during the 40th-day observation,” attained 156,000 views, 64 comments, 115 retweets, 1.7k likes, and 186 bookmarks respectively— showing how far it’s travelled on social media.

Also, several Facebook accounts, such as Faustina Manu and Bỳte Sieh Samuel, posted the same video on their pages, with similar captions that cement the same “fact”.

Meanwhile, the genesis of the said video was posted by Magikal GH (magikalgh_), a blogger who covered the event and shared the short clip on his Instagram page, garnering a few likes.

Nonetheless, the video generated several comments, with some users suggesting that the tension stemmed from alleged inheritance issues, citing Akrobeto’s close relationship with the late Apostle.

Others also read between the lines, but the 30-second clip could misinform many, so DUBAWA had to step in.

Verification

DUBAWA noticed that the 30-second video, allegedly showing a disagreement, had been doctored.

In another video sighted and posted by blogger GHbrain on Instagram, it depicted the opposite of the whole reaction. Although Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jnr paused for a brief moment, he still smiled and warmly shook hands with the renowned actor Akrobeto.

The 30-second video making the rounds was cut short just before the two exchanged pleasantries, possibly to fuel the rumour, raise eyebrows, and boost engagement on their channels.

Conclusion

The claim that Kwadwo Safo Jnr refused to shake hands with Akrobeto is misleading. The circulating video was doctored and misrepresents the actual event. In reality, both men exchanged pleasantries during the memorial service, demonstrating mutual respect rather than conflict.
