Claim: Twitter users @inanakwasi and TheTPatriots shared varying claims that an apprehended young man dressed in military attire on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, in Assin North, is either a New Patriotic Party (NPP) or National Democratic Party (NDC) thug brought there to cause chaos.
Finding
The arrest was reported by reliable news sources such as 3news.com and myjoyonline.com. None of the two reports indicated the supposed party affiliation of the suspect.
DUBAWA also checked the social media handles and website of the police, but there was no official statement about the incident yet.
Journalists and observers DUBAWA spoke to at Assin North said they were not in a position to determine the suspect’s political affiliation.
When DUBAWA contacted NPP’s National Youth Organizer Henry Nana Boakye, he denied such reports, saying, “It is not true.” When he was quizzed on whether an alleged man in the video is associated with the NPP, Mr Boakye indicated that he had no idea who he was.
DUBAWA also contacted Edem Agbana, a former Deputy Youth Organiser of the NDC, who denied the claim.

Verdict: Misleading.
Even though the police is yet to release an official statement on the incident, DUBAWA’s searches reveal that no sources depict that the young man owes allegiance to either the New Patriotic Party (NPP) or the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
DUBAWA, however, reached out to the NPP National Youth Organizer Henry Nana Boakye via telephone, and he refuted such reports.
