Verdict: Misleading, DUBAWA’s checks revealed that the video is old. It first appeared online in October 2023.
Full Text
Both social and traditional media have been flooded with news about the waging war between Israel and Iran in the Middle East. There have been strikes from both countries in the past week, causing mass destruction in Tel Aviv and Tehran.
Several political leaders have commented on the strikes. President Donald Trump has called for Iran’s “unconditional surrender.”
An X user, @Worldwar_3, shared a video in a post claiming it is about current happenings in Israel.
“Israel LIVE: Ben Gurion Airport Under Alert | War Impact on Flights,” the post on June 15, 2025, was captioned with a video suggesting chaotic scenes.
As of June 18, 2025, the post had garnered 552,300 views, 573 bookmarks, 6,300 likes, 733 comments, and 1,900 reposts.
The same video was shared by @Chude on X to depict current events in Israel. Find the same video used to illustrate the Israel-Iran war in an Instagram post here.
DUBAWA recognises the potential of disinformation in such situations and has decided to probe further.
Verification
DUBAWA used InVid WeVerify to extract keyframes and run reverse image searches. The checks found that the video is old. It first appeared online in October 2023.
Trendingwave1 uploaded the same video to an Instagram reel on Oct. 10, 2023, illustrating emergencies during the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
“Current situation in Israel after they declared war against Palestine. Thousands of people have already gone (Israel Vs Palestine War),” the post was captioned.
You can find other social media posts where other users uploaded the same video in 2023 here and here.
Further checks reveal reports on Hamas warning people to evacuate Israel amidst an impending attack. These reports were published in October 2023, corroborating the videos uploaded on social media around the same period.
The video has been online since the Israel-Palestine conflict, and it is not a representation of the current escalating situation between Israel and Iran.
Conclusion
The viral video depicting current tensions between Israel and Iran is misleading. The video was first uploaded during the Hamas attacks on Israel in October 2023.
