Introduction
A purported Ghanaian physician and television host, Anne-Sansa Daly, was stripped of her position as a National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) board member after being exposed as a fake.
President John Mahama’s government appointed her as one of 17 board members but removed her when her credentials were publicly challenged.
Who is Anne-Sansa Daly or Anas Sansa?
Born Anas Afia Sansa, the self-acclaimed Ghanaian physician described herself as a global health crusader “bridging gaps between Ghana and the U.S.A.”
In her LinkedIn profile, she also called herself a Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine graduate, where she graduated with a “4.0 GDP and awarded Summa cum laude.”
However, a visit to the social media site showed that she had deleted her account there. Also, she has edited a similar description on a YouTube channel she managed.
She hosted a health show called ‘Health and Life with Dr Daly’ on Accra-based GHOne TV, where she advised her viewers about their health choices. The show premiered on Aug. 27, 2023.
Interest in Anne-Sansa started after she was appointed on May 19, 2025, by a letter from Callistus Mahama, President Mahama’s Secretary.
Start of the primary campaign that exposed Anne-Sansa
A leaked confidential letter from Ghana’s Dental and Medical Council to Nii Armah Amarteyfio clarifying Anne-Sansa’s credentials sparked interest.
Paragraph 2 of the letter dated April 7, 2025, read:
“Our records indicate that Dr Anne Daly is not registered with the Council, and therefore, does not hold a valid license to practice medicine or dentistry in Ghana as stipulated in Sections 29(1), 30, and 48(b) & (d) of the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act, 2013 (Act 857).”

Nii explained his letter to the Council on Anne-Sansa’s credentials to confirm if she was licensed to practice in Ghana, so as not to endanger people’s lives. He, however, said that he had shared the letter with some friends, which may have led to the leak.
In a Facebook post between May 23 and 24, 2025, Nii apologised to Anne-Sansa for the “significant emotional and reputational toll this [the leakage of the document] has had. I am truly sorry for the distress it has caused. I have reached out to Dr Daly and rendered an unqualified apology for sharing the MDC’s letter without her knowledge or consent.”
Nii has since deleted his Facebook apology post, but you can access it in news stories here and here.

Reacting to a claim that he was taking back his apology, Nii said, “My apology was strictly regarding the leakage of the document. I made it very clear that she had personally confirmed that she is not a practising medical doctor in Ghana, and that confirmation aligns with what was stated in the MDC letter.”
Ghana’s Medical and Dental Council has clarified that its leaked letter to Nii was “limited to the regulatory jurisdiction of Ghana ONLY.”
The Council explained that “any unintended imputation or inconvenience caused” by the leaked letter is “regretted.”

A further check at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine
Another social media user, Sekyi-Brown Reginald, shared a purported response from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine’s Registrar to his inquiry on Anne-Sansa.
His email dated May 25, 2025, was to clarify four issues, namely:
1. Whether Madam Anne Sansa Daly is a Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine graduate.
2. The specific degree(s) she may have earned, including the graduation year.
3. Whether her credentials qualify her to practice medicine in any U.S. jurisdiction, and if so, under what licensure or certification.
A screenshot of the email response to his inquiry showed no record of Anne-Sansa Daly in the school’s registry.

DUBAWA has written to the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine to confirm the communication circulating on social media.
However, the fact-checking institution has not heard from the school since June 3, 2025.
What OSINT tools reveal about a major Anne-Sansa campaign
The open-source intelligence (OSINT) tool Google Trends has revealed that interest in the purported Ghanaian physician, Sansa Daly, began on May 27, 2025, at 7:00 a.m. and peaked on May 29, 2025.
Google Trends data disclosed over 38 online searches on Sansa Daly on May 27, 517 searches on May 28, 2025, 586 searches on May 29, 2025, 338 searches on May 30, 2025, and 76 searches on May 31, 2025.

The top five regions where interest in the purported physician was high were the Greater Accra region, the Upper East region, the Eastern region, the Western region, and the Brong-Ahafo region.
Also, the significant areas in the Greater Accra region that recorded the highest searches are Adentan municipality, Kwabenya, Taifa, Tema, Haatso, Danfa, Ablekuma New Town, and Teacher Mante.

Another OSINT tool, Intelligence X, showed over 1,230 social media posts, particularly on Facebook, targeting Anne-Sansa on May 27, 2025.
The tool, which utilizes the query system, revealed a consistent messaging pattern aimed at removing Anne-Sansa as an NHIA board member.
The forensic auditing tool showed that some social media posts mentioned President Mahama or the NHIA’s social media handles.

Tagging Mahama’s Facebook account, social media user, Stephen Nartey Adamtey, wrote:
“It is sad that, upon the brouhaha from the validity of one Anne Sansa Daly and her legitimacy as to whether she’s a qualified doctor in the USA which turns out to be untrue, our President John Dramani Mahama and his able team had gone ahead to appoint the self-acclaimed doctor as member of the governing board of the national health insurance authority.”
Also, Whopostedwhat, another OSINT tool, confirmed the significant rise in Facebook posts between May 27 and 28, 2025.
However, interest in Anne-Sansa began to wane between May 30 and 31, 2025. During that time, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Ashanti Regional Chairperson, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi, was detained by the country’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

Swearing-in of National Health Insurance Authority Board members
Ghana’s Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, swore in the new Board members of the country’s National Health Insurance Authority on May 27, 2025, when the campaign against Anne-Sansa was peaking.
The initial swearing-in post on the Authority’s Facebook account at 3:27 p.m. mentioned Anne-Sansa as a member of the Board, even though she was not seen at the ceremony.
Paragraph 6 of the post read:
“Legal expertise will be provided by Dr Divine Ndonbi Banyubala. Dr Anne Sansa Daly and Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, MP, also serve on the board.”
However, according to Facebook’s edit history, on May 28, 2025, at 3:15 p.m., after the campaign against Anne-Sansa’s removal from the Board rose, the NHIA’s post was edited to remove her name.
The edited paragraph 6 of the post read:
“Legal expertise will be provided by Dr Divine Ndonbi Banyubala and Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, MP, who also serve on the board.”
Revocation of Anne-Sansa’s appointment
Later, when the heat was on Anne-Sansa Daly’s professional credentials, the government released a letter purportedly written on May 23, 2025, revoking and replacing Anne-Sansa on the NHIA board.
The NHIA swearing-in post on Facebook was made five days after the revocation letter was issued and two days after it was acknowledged as received by the country’s Health Ministry.

Prosecute or not to prosecute Anne-Sansa?
Some Ghanaian lawmakers have called on the Ghana Medical and Dental Council to contact its counterpart in the U.S. to determine Anne-Sansa’s professional qualifications.
A letter from the Ranking Member on the Health Committee, Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie, wants the GMDC to verify whether Sansa Daly is listed on the U.S. registry of certified medical practitioners.
Meanwhile, there are growing calls for the government to prosecute Anne-Sansa for fabrication, forgery and public deception.
TV host and private legal practitioner, Samson Lardi-Anyenini, has asked the government to prosecute the “fake Dr Sansa Daly.”
Also, reacting, Ghanaian journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni, posted on X that:
“Adenta Kumi is charged with publishing false news. Daly’s false news actually “misled” and embarrassed the government. Or is the law against only opposition members and their affiliates?”
In another post, Manasseh explained that the government should not concentrate on prosecuting an opposition supporter for alleged false news and ignore Anne-Sansa.
“So, my argument in the recent post is that you cannot ignore Sansa Daly’s false publication and prosecute Adenta Kumi.”
Conclusion
It is not clear yet if the government wants to prosecute Anne-Sansa. However, her earlier appointment has been revoked.
