A TikTok user @officialexcelll has shared a video of a building on fire, which he alleged belonged to Super Eagle’s Samuel Chukwueze, which was set on fire by some angry Nigerian youth after he missed the penalty in the Semi-final game between Nigeria and Morocco.
The player missed a penalty during the penalty shoot-out between Nigeria and Morocco in the semi-final at the African Cup of Nations 2025 in the North African country. Nigeria could not progress to the final.
Some Nigerian supporters took to social media to criticise the player for failing to execute such an important assignment.
Hours later, the TikTok user alleged that Chukwueze’s house in the West African country was set on fire by some angry youth.
“Breaking news: Angry Nigerian youth have set Chukwueze’s house ablaze after reluctantly missing a penalty kick against Morocco,” he alleged.
A TikToker, @Etop.online.class, wrote, “Why did they not represent Nigeria if they think it is easy?”
Another added, @Big_jess237, “But why? Even Messi, Eto’o, and Neymar missed penalties too.”
The social media data reveals that as of Jan. 15, 2026, the video has garnered over 56,234 likes, 1,674 comments, 3,668 bookmarks, and 9,929 shares.
DUBAWA decided to probe the claim due to its viral status on social media.
Verification
DUBAWA’s investigation showed that the video of the house on fire was generated using artificial intelligence (AI).
The result of a content analysis of the video revealed that it has been labelled “AI-generated,” in line with the social media platform’s policy.

See the AI-generated media label in the above screenshot.
TikTok’s policy on AI-generated content requires content creators to label their content appropriately at the time of posting to inform
“To support authentic and transparent experiences for our community, we encourage creators to label content that has been either completely generated or significantly edited by AI,” the policy said.
The labelling, the social media platform noted, “provides transparent context to viewers about the content they’re viewing.”
While acknowledging the potential of AI, TikTok said, “It can potentially make it difficult for viewers to tell the difference between fact and fiction if not labelled.”
Also, results of a Google Keyword Search conducted by DUBAWA disclosed that no credible media organisation in the West African nation has reported on the alleged incident.
Conclusion
Video of a house belonging to Super Eagle’s Chuwkueze, allegedly set on fire by angry Nigerian youth after he missed a penalty in the Nigeria-Morocco Semi-final clash, is AI-generated.
