Claim: A viral social media post claims that IShowSpeed said in an interview with Ghanaian radio station Adom FM that Ghanaians did not ask him for money during his visit, unlike Nigerians, who allegedly “treated him like the IMF.”

Introduction

Popular American YouTuber and livestreamer IShowSpeed, known for his high-energy broadcasts and massive global following, recently concluded a month-long African tour that included a stop in Ghana. His visit attracted significant attention online and in the media, with fans tracking his movements across cities and sharing clips of his interactions with locals.

Amid the excitement, a viral graphic circulating on social media claims the streamer granted an interview to Adom FM, in which he allegedly said he had spent hours in Ghana without being asked for money, contrasting the experience with Nigeria, where he claimed people treated him “like the IMF.”

The viral social media graphic reads,

“I have been in Ghana for close to 3 hours, and no one has begged me for money. In Nigeria, they treated me like I was the IMF.”

The post has generated thousands of likes and shares, but a closer look raises questions about whether such an interview ever took place.

Screenshots of the post’s comment section show many users accepting the quote as genuine, with several commenters repeating and amplifying the alleged Ghana–Nigeria comparison without questioning its authenticity.

Some social media users have accepted the claim at face value without verification, making it necessary for DUBAWA to scrutinise whether the interview and the quote are authentic.

Verification

There is no record of an Adom FM interview. A review of Adom FM’s programmes, news reports, and social media pages shows no interviews, studio appearances, or phone-in conversations featuring IShowSpeed during his time in Ghana.

There are no publicly available audio clips, videos, promotional flyers, or posts announcing his appearance.

DUBAWA also reviewed the official platforms of Adom FM and their parent company, Multimedia Group Limited, including their websites and social media pages, but found no records indicating that IShowSpeed granted any interview or made the alleged statement.

Programmes Manager of Adom FM, Josh Tigo, told DUBAWA that no such interview was conducted on Adom FM.

No Ghanaian media interview during the tour

IShowSpeed’s Africa tour, dubbed “Speed Does Africa,” ran from December 29, 2025, to January 27, 2026, covering nearly 20 countries.

During his Ghana stop, coverage from mainstream outlets focused on cultural visits, meetings with traditional leaders, tourist experiences, street interactions, and livestreams

There is no credible report of him sitting down for a traditional media interview in Ghana.

Instead, most of his content came directly from his livestreams, YouTube channel, and social media posts. Not radio or TV interviews.

The quote was not found anywhere legitimate.

The alleged quote appears only in viral graphics and blogs, not in any verifiable broadcast or publication. Attaching celebrities to provocative quotes is a common engagement tactic used by clickbait pages. Public figures are frequently misquoted for virality, especially during high-profile visits.

Conclusion

Checks by DUBAWA show no evidence that IShowSpeed granted an interview to Adom FM or made the statement attributed to him.

Instead, coverage of his Ghana visit focused on his livestreamed activities and public appearances, rather than on formal media interviews. The quote originated from social media posts without verifiable sources. Therefore, the claim is false. It is a misattribution that falsely links both the streamer and the radio station to an interview that never occurred.
