Claim: Multiple social media users claim that former Arsenal player Thomas Partey has been jailed for two additional counts of rape.

Full Text

Ghanaian and former Arsenal player, Thomas Partey, has been in the news for both good and bad reasons. In recent years, he’s been in the headlines for his alleged rape cases, which have marred his prior splendid football career.

Partey is accused of raping two women and sexually assaulting a third. The offences are alleged to have occurred between 2021 and 2022. The Ghanaian, now playing for Villarreal in Spain, has had to make regular court appearances in England. In a Sept. 2025 appearance at the Southwark Crown Court, Partey pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.

On X, a user @Allansseky reported that Partey had been taken to jail, accompanied by an image of the player in handcuffs.

“Former Arsenal midfielder has been taken to jail. He’s facing two more counts of rape,” he captioned with an image of the midfielder in cuffs.

As of Feb. 17, 2026, the post had garnered 5,600,000 views, 20,000 likes, and 1,800 reposts.

DUBAWA decided to investigate the claim further due to its virality.

Verification

DUBAWA’s checks reveal that the Metropolitan Police, with authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service, charged the Ghanaian player with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault on July 5, 2025.

He was ordered to appear before the Westminster Magistrates Court on August 5, 2025, where he denied all charges and was granted “a conditional bail.” The ensuing hearing at Southwark Crown Court ended with Partey pleading “not guilty.” His trial is scheduled for Nov. 2026 under a High Court judge due to the backlog of cases.

Recent news reports indicate two new counts of rape have been brought up against Partey. The alleged victim states that the offence occurred in 2020. He is expected to appear in court on March 13, 2026, for the first hearing on these new charges.

Although he has been charged with several counts, he has been granted bail, and no trial has yet been held.

Conclusion

Although Thomas Partey has been charged with several counts of rape and sexual assault, the midfielder is set to face trial in Nov. 2026. The claim that he has been jailed is misleading.
