Claim: A social media post by Daily Mind Shift and NPP Facebook Caucus claims that Dennis Miracles Aboagye has resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), citing an “official release” dated 23 May 2026 in which he allegedly described Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as “not fit” to lead the party into the 2028 elections.

A graphic circulating on Facebook (archived here) claims that Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a leading communicator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has resigned from the party with immediate effect.

The purported statement, branded as an “Official Release,” claims Aboagye had become dissatisfied with the party’s direction and declared that former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was “not fit to lead the NPP to victory in the 2028 elections.”

The document concludes by asking Ghanaians and the media to treat him “as a citizen and not as an NPP member.”

The claim has been shared by several Facebook pages, including Daily Mind Shift and NPP 4EVER, generating hundreds of reactions and comments.

DUBAWA decided to investigate this claim because fabricated resignation letters have become a common tactic in political disinformation campaigns. In this case, the fabricated statement sought to portray one of Dr Bawumia’s most visible defenders as having publicly rejected his leadership.

Verification

DUBAWA reviewed Dennis Miracles Aboagye’s verified Facebook account and found no statement announcing his resignation from the NPP. Instead, his profile continues to identify him as an “NPP Communicator,” and a review of posts around and after the alleged resignation date found no indication that he had quit the party.

He continued representing Dr Bawumia publicly. The purported resignation letter is dated 23 May 2026.

On 4 July 2026, Aboagye appeared on JoyNews’ Newsfile, where he was introduced as the Communications Director for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2028 presidential campaign.

During the programme, he discussed the recent Accra floods while also criticising the government’s response.

These inconsistencies strongly indicate the graphic is a fabricated political disinformation document designed to create the impression of divisions within the NPP.

Conclusion

The claim that Dennis Miracles Aboagye resigned from the New Patriotic Party through an official statement dated May 23, 2026, is false.

Evidence shows he continued acting publicly as a spokesperson for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia after the alleged resignation date, and continued appearing in that official capacity on national television. These verifiable events directly contradict the contents of the viral document.
