Full Text

On November 12, 2025, during Burna Boy’s concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, he stopped his performance midway to address a woman in the front row who appeared to be sleeping. He demanded her removal before he would continue, prompting swift backlash online, where fans and observers labelled his actions as arrogant and disrespectful.

Amid mounting backlash, Burna Boy responded to the incident on stage and online.

During his next show in Dallas, he offered a brief apology to the crowd, calling the outburst a “slip of the tongue.”

He later posted a lengthier statement on Instagram, explaining that his concerts are often attended by people who have “overcome something very serious” and that he performs with high energy to honour them. He went on to say he would “gladly be cancelled” if fans expected him to tolerate what he perceived as disrespect, before adding: “I sincerely apologise if I’m wrong… I’m just human.”

The apology drew mixed reactions. Some fans defended him, praising his honesty and passion, while others felt it showed a lack of empathy.

Following the incident, a video, which has garnered 1.4million views on X and was posted by several accounts on Facebook, has surfaced with the musician apologising with the following words:

“To the lady and gentleman, I asked to leave my show. I am truly sorry, and I reacted too quickly, and I didn’t pause to understand your side. My music is meant to lift people and not to embarrass them. To my fans across the world, I hear you, I feel you, and I appreciate you. I am not perfect, but I am growing… from my heart, thank you for sticking with me even when I stumble.”

Posted by @badmanforex on November 29, 2025, garnered over 3,000 comments, 2,500 retweets, 9,200 likes, and over 3,000 bookmarks.

On Facebook, an account, Uncle Tarrmie Iwaringo, with 76K followers, also posted the same video on November 28 with the caption, “Burna boy apologises to the lady and guy he sent out of his show #burnaboy.” The video garnered 26k likes, 3.2k comments, and 888 shares.

The video trended massively on TikTok, where it originated, with many comments unable to tell whether Burna Boy actually made the statement.

Meanwhile, the account that first posted the video on TikTok was @tarrmie, who garnered 29.6k followers, 2,132 comments, and 2,112 bookmarks. He garnered over 900k views on the video platform without disclosing the source of his video; hence, DUBAWA decided to investigate further.

Verification

DUBAWA conducted further research and found that the source of the distributed video is false. The TikTok account, @tarrmie, has clearly stated that the video is artificially generated, as most videos on its platform are. Calling himself Uncle Tarrmie, he wrote on his bio, “Hey there, I’m Uncle Tarrmie. Most of my videos are made with AI to entertain you.”

Technical analysis shows clear signs of manipulation; thus, the voiceover doesn’t sync with lip movements, facial features distort unnaturally at angles, and artefacts appear inconsistent with real footage. Tools like Grok’s image generation or other AI video editors can readily produce such deepfakes.

Lastly, the outfit Burna Boy wears matches one from an authentic Associated Press interview published on July 9, 2025, promoting his album No Sign of Weakness (released July 11, 2025, featuring Mick Jagger, Travis Scott, and Shaboozey).

No genuine apology matching the script exists; Burna Boy’s verified statements remain the onstage and Instagram ones, which do not specifically reference the woman or boyfriend or express regret for “embarrassing” anyone.

Conclusion

The video is an AI-generated fake designed for engagement, misleading viewers into believing Burna Boy issued a heartfelt, targeted apology. While he has addressed the incident publicly, it falls short of the remorse shown in the clip.
