An X user, @thenationguy, shared an image of Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, which he said was hand-crafted.
Posting on Oct. 21, 2025, the social media user wrote:
“This guy spent 86 hours crafting Shatta Wale and painted it to look just like a real person.”
As of Oct. 26, 2025, the post has garnered over 1.5 million views, 1,000 comments, 2,823 reposts, 31,234 likes, and 978 bookmarks.
Commenting on the post, X user Okpanachi Elvis Sunday, asked, “Ghana, get that kind of talent?”
Another X user, PrettyJola, said: “If I hadn’t read the caption, I wouldn’t have known this is wood! This is Brilliant!”
But for another X user, Harde Fisayo, “No one can be this perfect. It has to be AI, but that’s not the AI logo in the pics.”
The image has been shared widely online this, this, this, and that.
DUBAWA decided to probe the claim due to its high engagement on the social media platform.
Verification
DUBAWA’s investigation found that the viral image of a wooden sculpture of Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale was generated using AI.
A closer look revealed two watermarks with the inscription “AI 3D Stories” — a signature mark of free AI-powered tools that create 3D images and animations from text prompts.
An Image analysis conducted by DUBAWA confirmed that the picture is a digital creation by “AI 3D Stories,” depicting a wooden-crafted figure of Shatta Wale being carved by a craftsman.

Also, a trusted AI-powered online tool, mydetector.ai, disclosed that the image was 99.9% AI-generated.
