Social media users have shared two images, claiming they depict an ultra-modern theatre at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi. The post, which has been widely circulated, has gained significant traction. Facebook user KB Nkansah, with over 500,000 followers, posted it on Facebook, while @katangaFellows shared it on X (formerly Twitter). Combined, the posts have amassed over 700,000 views.
On Facebook, KB Nkansah wrote: “This is not the USA or UK, BUT Ghana and one of the Ultra-Modern Theatres in KNUST. I am really proud of my school.”
On X, @katangaFellows added: “This is an auditorium in KNUST! Let anyone show us an auditorium in Ghana that surpasses this, and we will deactivate!”
Given the virality of the claim, DUBAWA investigated to verify its accuracy.
Verification
A Google reverse image search by DUBAWA revealed that the photos were not taken at KNUST in Ghana. Instead, they were traced to the Citadel Global Community Church auditorium in Lagos, Nigeria.
Further checks on the website of B Arch, Bezalel Academy of Art & Design in Jerusalem, the architectural firm behind the project, confirmed the auditorium’s identity. The company describes the design as follows:
“In our design, we attempted to invent an interior atmosphere appropriate for an African Church. The main feature of the Church is its acoustic ceiling, which was designed as an ‘African Night’ with light fixtures and all technical installations that appeared as stars and heavenly bodies. The floor is designed with earthly colours, while the cross image is suspended between heaven and earth.”

A YouTube video uploaded by a church member three years ago further confirms this. The video showcases the same architectural features as the viral images, proving they are not from KNUST.
Conclusion
This evidence confirms that the widely shared photos are misattributed. They do not depict a KNUST theatre but a church auditorium in Lagos, Nigeria.
