A TikTok user posted a video saying President-elect John Dramani Mahama never allowed electorates to ask questions when he embarked on campaigns and community engagements before the 2024 Dec. 7 elections.

In the video, which has garnered more than 35,000 views and counting, the user Nana Kofi, with the handle @pattydon62, said:

“When Mahama goes on campaigns he doesn’t allow the electorates to ask questions… but Bawumia embarks on community engagements and asks for questions, have you seen Mahama doing that before?”

He addressed other political issues, raising concern over the declaration of the NDC Presidential Candidate as the winner of the 2024 General elections.

The post generated over 6,000 comments, with some of the users reacting to his post:

TikTok user Cymontity said, “You’re right, but NPP made the wrong decision by choosing Bawumia and Napo to contest this election. Period!!!”

Another user, Yaa Vida, commented: “U are telling the truth, but they don’t know we are all here.”

Verification

Contrary to the claim, Google keyword research made by DUBAWA indicates that Mahama actively engaged with citizens, providing platforms for direct interaction and questions.

To begin with, DUBAWA’s research indicated that Mahama conducted several town hall meetings across various regions, where he addressed concerns and answered questions from attendees.

For instance, during a town hall meeting in Sunyani, Bono Region, on November 21, 2023, he engaged directly with the community, discussing issues and responding to their queries.

Again, on Monday, August 12, 2024, International Youth Day, Mahama participated in an event at Bukom Arena, engaging with young people and addressing their questions and concerns. Some social media users, including influencer Kalyjay, had the opportunity to pose questions directly to Mahama.

Additionally, during a town hall conversation at Yendi Senior High School in the Northern Region about 10 months ago, he answered various questions from Ghanaians regarding his plans for improving Ghana.

Conclusion

The claim that John Dramani Mahama did not allow electorates to ask questions during his campaigns and community engagements is false. Multiple instances demonstrate that Mahama provided platforms for direct interaction, encouraged questions, and addressed concerns from the public throughout his campaign.
